Cuyahoga County provides emergency services to 57 communities in the greater Cleveland area.

"This is a valuable asset for the elderly, the handicapped, or for anyone who might need help during an emergency," said Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora. "This is a valuable tool for residents who have special needs,'' said Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones. "First responders are better prepared when they arrive at the scene. They don't have to spend time asking questions."

One real-life example

Did you see the devastating tornadoes that ripped through central Florida in February 2007? A total of 21 people died and hundreds of homes were damaged. The storm occurred at 3:30am Friday, February 2nd. Around 10:00am, a reporter from a national news station was interviewing a woman in front of her demolished house. She said that she couldn't get her daughter's wheelchair out. The reporter asked where her daughter was by then. She said she was still in the back room. It was over 6 hours later.

Had their county had SavingMinutes© their first responders could have pulled the Special Needs Spreadsheet right when the storm hit. They would have known a girl in a wheelchair lived in that home and gotten her out promptly. Stories like this happen weekly all over the country.
