Why SavingMinutes©

As a Special Needs advocate for some time, I would like to introduce you to SavingMinutes©. SavingMinutes© is a software program that will help solve the problems associated with providing care and assistance to those with Special Needs during disasters and crises such as tornados, pandemics, floods, hurricanes, etc.

My Special Needs advocacy came about from my mother who is hearing impaired and diabetic, and my father who battled cancer, kidney failure, and dementia. Their challenges allowed me to realize the unique needs for this fragile group. My fear for my parents and others with Special Needs was that should an emergency occur their disability could prove harmful.

From that realization, SavingMinutes© was created. In discussions with the Coral Springs, Florida Fire Department; Cuyahoga County, Ohio Emergency Management personnel; Henry County, Ohio EMA, Health Department, Hospital District, etc. as well as other focus groups, it was determined that information about individual residences and their occupants was essential to preparing, planning and executing rescue operations.

SavingMinutes© is a browser based Resident Information Gathering System that allows residents to enter specific information about themselves, their home and property directly to their city/counties own web site. Once entered the data is immediately available to be viewed, searched or downloaded by emergency and first response teams when responding to an individual emergency. It also enhances planning efforts and expedites the services provided by municipalities and county/federal agencies like the EOC, FEMA, and Homeland Security in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.
